Supply Chain Manager
Reporting to the Director of North American Purchasing & Planning, the Purchasing & Planning Manager is responsible for execution of production planning, scheduling, purchasing, and logistics functions for G&W Canada while ensuring global alignment.
As a Supply Chain Manager you will:
- Lead and manage the purchasing, production planning, and logistics teams providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development support
- Manages the Buyer and Planner personnel through daily management to improve material availability, optimize production scheduling and eliminate materials shortages and production bottlenecks
- Establishes and maintains methods of measuring and improving supply chain performance, including supplier assessment and performance management, key supply chain performance indicators such as total cost of acquisition, cost savings, purchase price variance, inventory turns, lead time, productivity and customer service level.
- Works with others in the organization to understand material demands and forecast purchase requirements to meet G&W Electric customers and business needs
- Analyze sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels to create accurate and efficient production plans
- Manages and coordinates the development of purchasing policies and procedures to assure economic utilization of people and material
- Partners with the Category Managers to collaborate on cost savings opportunities in raw materials and process improvements, and deployment of category strategy
- Generate reports on production performance, capacity utilization, and schedule adherence for senior management.
- Monitoring production planning and inventory projection processes, preparing forecasts, demand and capacity planning reports
- Leads continuous improvements initiatives focused on improving processes and efficiency within the purchasing and planning team
- Departmental cross training
- Acts as the first point of escalation from purchasing/planning team resources
- Develops a high performing supply base and strategic partnerships focused on continuous improvement, delivery of innovation, and supply continuity, through effective supplier development management programs. Manages supplier performance and development, including supplier scorecards.
- Supplier contract management and management of supply agreements
- Manage relationships and negotiate contracts with third-party logistics providers, for various modes of transportation
- Manage transportation strategies for cost effective and timely delivery of inbound and outbound goods
- Ensure compliance with shipping, customs, and import/export regulatory requirements
- Monitor logistics KPIs and report on performance metrics such as transportation costs, cost savings and service levels
- Other duties as assigned
We are looking for someone with:
- 7+ years of purchasing/procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in business, supply chain or related discipline
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems required.
- Advanced computer software skills, MS excel, access, project etc.
- Has the ability to multi-task under pressure in a high paced environment.
- Has strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English
- Is results-oriented, self-motivated with a sense of initiative
- Has the ability to work independently and as a team player while solving problems and multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
- Can independently identify and develop solutions to problems that may arise in the course of work
- Can respond effectively to inquiries or comments from internal/external customers and suppliers
- apply their purchasing background working to support the manufacturing of custom products
- Must have experience sourcing niche suppliers
- Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement best practices
- Experience working within a technical engineering environment
- Resourceful, diplomatic, customer service oriented

- Well-developed organization and prioritization skills; detailed oriented
- Who embraces changes with a positive attitude
- Experience in creating and documenting processes and procedures; knowledge of ISO standards

- Can successfully establish and maintains long-term relationships with colleagues and suppliers
- Must be highly focused and able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management training an asset
- APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional and/or Certified in Production and Inventory Management, SCMA Certified Supply Chain Professional or other supply chain related designation an asset
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and principles an asset
What we offer you:
Typical pay is $92,000 – 126,000 annually.
