Process Specialist
Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for the continuous improvement of our safety, reliability, quality, delivery, cost, and the elimination of waste from our processes. Also responsible for the Research and Development (R&D) of the relevant manufacturing processes and applicable automation in eliminating waste.
As a Process Specialist you will:
- Understand current data collection and documentation methods in EPOX department. Actively participate in projects in advancing the data collection/monitoring technology.
- Participate in creating the process control methods such as SPC and train appropriate personnel for the optimum use of it.
- Manage engineering changes and new product development as it is released to manufacturing.
- Interacts directly with all levels of Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality Control, and Engineering teams in Canada, and remotely with USA facility.
- Establish critical characteristics for all processes and systems for monitoring those variables.
- Support process development and process validation to ensure defect free products to our customers.
- Review and institute storage and handling requirements for incoming and in-process materials.
- Perform different experiments such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and record results of work performed, conclusions and recommendations in clear, concise and timely reports.
- Conduct process audits in association with Quality department and Operations Team.
- Develop appropriate processes to ensure consistent product quality and yield for all molded assemblies/parts in the EPOX department.
- Establish process controls for each of the above processes for proper monitoring and control of production activities.
- Establish and maintain appropriate metrics for process monitoring and management review.
- Develop and maintain tooling maintenance and documentation for molds and routinely refurbished or replaced components in the molding process.
- Propose tool design improvements/changes using AutoCAD.
- Participate in continual improvement events and follow-up activities.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or Science with 1-2 years of experience in process improvement
- 1 to 3 years of experience “hands on” low to medium volume assembly process improvements and practical quality improvement implementation.
- Knowledge of and experience applying Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Ability to manage change and/or conflict within any project in an effective, timely, and appropriate manner.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player while solving problems and multitasking in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical abilities to be able to sort through conflicting data and evidence to determine the root cause of a condition or issue.
- Possess drive and motivation to continuously learn on the job.
- Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a strong sense of initiative.
- A strong sense of urgency to drive tasks and projects to completion.
- Strong Knowledge of AutoCAD or other 2D/3D design software.
- Must be familiar with ISO standards.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
We prefer someone who has:
- Master’s degree in Plastics/Polymers, Materials, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering field
- Black belt - Six sigma, Red X, or other problem-solving certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or experience in LSS Problem Solving and Statistical Process Control experience
- Familiar with the use of statistical software (MINITAB preferred) as well as SPC methods.
- Working experience of Enterprise Resource Planning tools (J.D Edwards or similar).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with VBA scripting for report automation.

What we offer you:
Typical pay is $60,416.00 to $82,944.00
Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.
